Patented for a Reason: The Story Behind Our Enviro-Tour

How a Key Largo family turned curiosity about the backcountry into an invention.

Vintage Caribbean Watersports Enviro-Tour heritage scene on Florida Bay

Caribbean Watersports has been family-owned in Key Largo since 1983, and in that time we've learned a simple truth: the backcountry of Florida Bay rewards people who know where to look. Our patented Enviro-Tour is the product of that knowledge.

More than a boat ride

An Enviro-Tour isn't about speed — it's about access. We slip into shallow backcountry water that bigger boats can't reach, where seagrass meadows and mangrove islands shelter an astonishing amount of life. Dolphins, manatees, rays, sea turtles, wading birds and the occasional shark all call these flats home.

Why "patented" matters

The format of the tour — small, low-impact, narrated and built around the rhythms of the bay — was distinctive enough to earn a patent. But what it really means for you is a trip designed by people who've spent a lifetime reading this water.

  • Shallow-draft access to true backcountry
  • Narration from crew who know the bay's wildlife by season
  • A low-impact approach that protects what we came to see

It's eco-tourism the way it should be: curious, gentle and genuinely local.
